How to clean blinds the fast way.
Dusting blinds slat by slat with a cloth takes forever and misses both sides. An old sock on your hand cleans top and bottom of each slat in one pass.
Clean blinds without removing them by closing them one direction and dusting, then flipping them the other direction and dusting again. For grimy or kitchen blinds, put an old sock over your hand, dip it in a vinegar-water mix, and run each slat between your fingers to clean both sides at once. Wipe dry.
Dust both directions
For light dust, work fast by using the slats' own angles.
- Close the blinds one way and wipe across with a microfiber or duster
- Flip them the opposite way and wipe again
- This hits the surface that was hidden the first pass
The sock-and-vinegar trick for grime
Kitchen and bathroom blinds get a greasy or filmy buildup that dusting will not remove.
- Mix equal parts white vinegar and warm water
- Put an old sock over your hand and dip it in the solution
- Pinch each slat and slide along it — both sides clean at once
- Re-dip as needed and wipe slats dry after
Keep up with it
A quick dust every couple weeks prevents the heavy grime clean. Kitchen blinds need the vinegar treatment a few times a year as grease accumulates.
